Rose, Billy (Rosenberg, William Samuel)
(1899-1966)
   American impresario. Born in New York City, he became a shorthand stenographer. Determined to become a songwriter, he began to write songs. In 1924 he became a nightclub owner. During the 1940s he produced shows. After World War II he wrote a syndicated column and began investing in art and real estate. In 1965 he donated his sculpture collection to Israel.
